What's a TeachMeet?
TeachMeets are informal gatherings of (originally) teachers, designed to allow the sharing of ideas. Library TeachMeets are for librarians who teach! Find out more about the history of Library TeachMeets in the article "TeachMeet: Librarians learning from each other" by Niamh Tumelty, Isla Kuhn and Katie Birkwood.
Upcoming Library TeachMeets:
Please post upcoming LibTeachMeets below in chronological order below - this is a free wiki so you will need to request to join:
Ponteland High School is holding a Lib TeachMeet on Wednesday 24th June 2015, 1.30-4pm.
It is free and we hope it will provide a great learning, sharing and networking opportunity for library staff from across the region (people from elsewhere are, of course, very welcome!).
Predominantly such events are not held in Schools, so I thought I would change the norm and offer this opportunity.
Everyone is welcome, librarians, information assistants, head of your organization or a junior assistant… we’re looking forward to seeing you.
If you wish to contribute, the only rule is that your presentation mustn’t be trying to sell us anything , and you must stick to the timeslot.
You can use PowerPoint or you can just talk, and / or show something from the web. Anything that will kick-start a discussion will be very welcome.
Examples of presentations I have seen are:
- Library poster displays
- Jigsaws as a means of teaching sixth form students about writing essays.
- Interactive tools to assist with Library Inductions.
